INDIANAPOLIS—State Senator Jim Arnold (D-LaPorte) has been appointed to the Senate Select Committee on Immigration Issues. Arnold says he looks forward to studying how the state can better understand immigration issues facing the Hoosier Latinos.

“Our caucus has regular meetings with Latino stakeholders, so I am grateful for the appointment to this bi-partisan committee,” said Sen. Arnold. “I’m hopeful we can address the issues those stakeholders have presented to us during this new discussion on immigration.”

The Senate Democrats established the Indiana Senate Democratic Latino Roundtable in 2013, bringing together Latino community stakeholders from around the state to discuss and advocate for Latino issues at the legislature.

The Select Committee on Immigration Issues will meet after March 15, 2016 and issue a full report detailing any legislative recommendations to the Senate no later than November 15, 2016.

Sen. Arnold represents Indiana Senate District 8, which includes the majority of LaPorte county and portions of St. Joseph and Starke counties.  For more information on Sen. Arnold, his legislative agenda, or other State Senate business call 1-800-382-9467 or visit
