INDIANAPOLIS—Assistant Senate Democratic Leader Jean D. Breaux (D-Indianapolis) released the following statement in response to the governor’s recent plea for federal education funding:
“While we were excited to see the governor support a pre-k trial for a few schools in 2014, he immediately turned down millions of dollars in federal funding that could have made pre-k an option for Hoosiers statewide.
“Now, he is maybe-sort-of-interested in knowing how he can apply for those same funds he turned down?
“I think Hoosiers expect stronger leadership from our governor when it comes to our children’s education.
“I would have hoped that in a non-election year, he would have had the same interest in expanding pre-k to more Hoosier children.”
