On Monday, State Senator J.D. Ford (D-Indianapolis) asked the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to deny a recent petition filed by several investor-owned utility companies seeking to increase consumer rates to make up lost revenue due to a COVID-19 related decrease in energy demand.

In a letter to the IURC, Sen. Ford stated while he appreciates the concerns raised by utilities in the joint petition, his focus at this time must be on Hoosiers across the state struggling to pay existing rates.
