The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Indiana’s October unemployment figures, which held steady from the September 2018 rate. The state’s unemployment rate stood at 3.5% for October and remained lower than the national rate of 3.7%. The national rate remained steady as well from September. The state’s rate of 3.5% is also a 0.2% decrease from September of 2017.

Surrounding states–Kentucky and Ohio saw no change to their rates, both holding at 4.5% and 4.6% respectively. Illinois’s rate rose by 0.1% from September 2018 to 4.2%. Only one nearby state saw a drop in the unemployment rate – that was Michigan with a 0.1% decrease to 3.9%.
