Senate Democratic Leader Tim Lanane (D-Anderson) released the following statement following the Indiana Election Commission’s meeting on Wednesday:

“During the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s imperative that we protect our constitutional right to vote while making sure we don’t put Hoosiers in harm’s way by exposing people to the virus. No-excuse mail-in voting will help make sure that Hoosiers who want to vote can do so while still staying safe at home. Because of the delay in the primary election, we now have the time to make sure that every Hoosier can get an absentee mail-in ballot. Any roadblocks that may arise to getting ballots to Hoosiers need to be addressed promptly. It is my hope that this crisis will at least show the immense efficacy and convenience of voting by mail and how its use should be continued in future elections.”
