INDIANAPOLIS–Today, Governor Holcomb signed Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 390 into law. The legislation’s author, State Senator Mark Stoops (D-Bloomington) attended the ceremonial bill signing and released the following comments:

SEA 390 updates the Indiana Commission on Rehabilitation Services regarding their overall duties, the number of appointments to the commission, as well as establishing a new state policy with regard to employment opportunities for disabled citizens in Indiana.

“This was a bipartisan effort to ensure that the State of Indiana is providing proper assistance to anyone looking for employment. This Act represents the first step in improving employment opportunities for all Hoosiers.

“Indiana has needed stronger legislation to help those with disabilities for many years, and I have submitted similar legislation in the past. I am thankful that the General Assembly acted on my bill this year and that the governor has signed the Act.”

The provisions in the Act will go into effect on July 1, 2017.
