On Wednesday, the Senate Pensions and Labor Committee approved Senate Bill (SB) 202, authored by Senate Democratic Chair Karen Tallian (D-Ogden Dunes). SB 202 would increase workers’ compensation benefits by two percent each year for the next three years. If signed into law, this will be the first time the state has increased workers’ compensation benefits since 2016.
“Workers’ compensation benefits aren’t increased automatically, so we have to vote to increase them to make sure they keep up with inflation and cost of living,” Sen. Tallian said. “We need these benefits to make sure Hoosier families aren’t going bankrupt because of an injury on the job.”
SB 202 now moves to the Senate floor for consideration by the full Senate
