As a senator, I have done my fair share of traveling around our great state and have discovered that Indiana holds a rich history and multitude of interesting places to explore. Many of which, I am proud to say are located in or near Indiana Senate District 47.
I have always enjoyed visiting Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood home located in Lincoln City, Indiana. At theLincoln Boyhood National Memorial you can discover interesting facts about the 14 years Abraham Lincoln and his family lived in Southern Indiana. There are many attractions in the park such as the Lincoln Cabin Site Memorial, Lincoln Living Historical Farm and Nancy Hanks Lincoln Gravesite. The Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial Park is a great place for school fieldtrips, families and anyone interested in the early life of President Lincoln.
New to the Corydon area are the Indiana Caverns, said to have Indiana’s longest cave. Visitors get the chance to see numerous geological formations, underground ecosystems and even ice age bones!
Another amazing place to visit in Southern Indiana isFrench Lick. Some of the offerings in French Lick include golfing, horseback riding, boutique shops, swimming pools, spas and two world-class hotels. TheWest Baden Hotel is known as the “eighth wonder of the world”, boasting a breathtaking 200 foot atrium, and the French Lick Springs Hotel possesses some of the most luxurious accommodations in the state. For over 100 years, patrons from all over the world have come to French Lick to experience its many wonders and natural springs.
Speaking of breathtaking atriums, the Indiana Statehouse has a pretty incredible atrium itself. If you have never visited the Statehouse in Indianapolis, there is no better time than now. I have the pleasure of serving the wonderful citizens of Indiana in this historic building and extend an invitation to all Hoosiers to come to the Statehouse for a visit. They have tours every weekday (excluding holidays) and can accommodate singles, couples or large groups.
If you would like more information about places to visit in Indiana please go tohttp://www.in.gov/visitindiana. To schedule a Statehouse tour, please call 317-233-5293 or send an email to email@example.com.
It is my hope that everyone has a safe and fun-filled summer. I encourage all Hoosiers to get out there this summer and visit Indiana’s finest tourism sites.
